Project INK is a program focused on the prevention of HIV/AIDS. We provide HIV/STI testing, linkage to HIV care, referrals for PrEP, and condoms, all for FREE! We serve those who statistically are most at risk for contracting HIV/AIDS by being a non-judging, open space to learn how to protect yourself!

We offer free HIV testing at our locations and events!

PROMISE is a program within Project INK focused on storytelling and role models. A role model can be any man in the community who has overcome challenges and models a new behavior that promotes a healthy lifestyle.
Role model stories are captured and shared with the community by peer advocates. A peer advocate is a volunteer who mentors other men and engages peer networks to share stories.

I have HIV… now what? How long do I have?

Having HIV does not mean what it meant years ago. There have been advances in medicine and science to bring a higher quality of life, for those living with HIV or AIDS. People live long and healthy lives if they know their status and can start anti-retroviral therapy (medication)!

I know my status. I am linked to a medical professional. I have started taking my medication… now what?

What if I told you, that by taking your medication consistently and working closely with your physician, you can achieve viral supression and become undetectable!? Viral suppression happens when the medication reduces and controls the amount of HIV virus that is in a person’s body. Being on medication and taking it consistently can help achieve this!

And now we know…

Being Undetectable means you cannot transmit the HIV virus to others! Undetectable equals Untransmittable (U=U).

U=U is changing the way we look at HIV and prevention strategies. Effective treatment is a form of prevention. “People with HIV who take HIV medicine as prescribed and get and keep an undetectable viralload have effectively no risk of transmitting HIV to their HIV-negative sexual partners.” – CDC, September 2017.

Learn Your Status. Get on Treatment. Become Undectable.

Equitas Health

HIV/STI Testing at King-Lincoln Medical Center

Project INK is now providing testing hours at Equitas Health’s office in the King-Lincoln District.

Monday through Friday you can stop in from 12p-5p at 750 E Long St, Suite 3000, and receive your FREE HIV test results. You can also get tested for Gonorrhea/Chlamydia (urine), and Syphilis (blood draw). The results for the STI tests are available between 7-10 days with Columbus Public Health. If you test reactive for any STIs, Columbus Public Health will call you with the results and recommendations for treatment. If you don’t hear from them within 10 days, your tests came back as negative.

On Tuesday’s from 12p-4:30p and Wednesday’s 12p-6p, we can also provide treatment for Gonorrhea/Chlamydia and Syphilis, if you are experiencing symptoms or have a known exposure.

If you test reactive for HIV, a second test will be provided immediately, and if both results are positive you will be linked to medical services that day!

If your test for HIV is negative, Equitas Health can provide you with an appointment to come back and start PrEP. PrEP is a once-a-day pill designed to reduce getting HIV. Studies have shown PrEP to be 92-99% effective in reducing the risk of HIV.

What are you waiting for? Come get tested and learn what you can do to stay healthy!

Project INK at AWOL Bar

Did you know there is a place where you can dance the night away in your jock strap or fetish gear?

We didn’t either, until we started to team up with AWOL Bar to provide FREE HIV testing.

On the 1st Saturday of each month AWOL Bar presents Code: Jock from 10pm-2am. On the 3rd Saturday of the month is Code: Skin & Festish from 10pm-2am.

Both events are complete with their own “clothes check” so you can wear your favorite jock strap or gear on the dance floor. The barracks at AWOL Bar has become one of Columbus’s hottest dance floor.

Project INK provides HIV testing and PrEP referrals until 1am during these events. Find a person wearing an Equitas Health or Project INK tshirt and we can point you in the right direction to take control of your sexual health! We hope to see you out on the dance floor and visiting us when you need a moment to rest!
